Drift Garage

My buddy Rich hit me up on Facebook and said he had some news for me. He’s got quite a few projects going at the moment so I stopped by last night to hang and chop it up. After some backroad manuvering I pull up and find myself face to face with one of my dream cars.

Nothing like a gutted AE86 on Supras! Apparently she’s been in sitting in a shop for the last 2 years neglected by a flakey builder. Rich and the owner are taking on the tall task of bringing her back up to speed. If I remember correct the engine is the sexy blue top.

Next to the hachiroku was a white 240sx being setup for http://www.driftspot.org’s upcoming drift days. It will be setup as a street car and used as a vehicle for beginer to get their newbie kicks on the track. Plans include a 4 point cage and Stance suspension bits but the goal is to keep this as close to a street car as possible. Great idea and way to promote keeping drifting fun. I’ll be back soon to see how both of these projects progress.

"Where's that damn 10mm?"

Project S12 - Rescued from one of my coworkers, patiently awaiting completion.

The weather should be warm this weekend – enjoy and speed safely.

AWD junkies

The annual Hyper Meeting @ Tsukuba Circuit is right around the corner! Every year the premier AWD drivers & tuning houses in Japan turn out in droves for this event. I was browsing Sierra Sierra’s website and it looks like they will also be there with the EVO, a beastly machine that is shaping up to be one of the best time attack cars built on US soil.

MotoIQ has a great in depth article on the Sierra Sierra EVO

Station

Carsport Station’s GC Impreza is the business.

Their S15 isn’t too shabby either. Both cars run time attacks at Sendai.

R-Magic FD @ HKS Premium Day, Fuji Speedway 2011.

Are we there yet?

There – as in Spring, as in warm weather. Can’t wait for the upcoming motorsport season though! I went out with my homie Rich (and our GF’s ) for drinks a few nights ago, he got me all hyped up talking about Drift-Spot.org’s Drift Clinic. It’s a good way for noobs like me to practice drifting in a safe enviroment.

May 14 – Drift Clinic “Drift 101″ – NHMS S3
June 11 – Spring Drifting – NHMS S3
July 9 – Dog Days of Drift – NHMS S3
September 10 – Fall Classic – NHMS S1

Hopefully Rich will have his S12 project running by season opener, unfortunately his CWest CF S15 met an untimely demise in 2010. If you’ve been to any import event in NH,MA or RI in the past 3 years you have definitely seen his car around.

The good news is that it will be rebuilt – and with a bit of luck you’ll see the updates right here. Stay tuned.
